McAsphalt Industries launches vessel to boost its logistics network

McAsphalt Industries Ltd. has unveiled its newest vessel, the McAsphalt Advantage, equipped with state-of-the-art safety and sustainability features designed for efficient trade on the Great Lakes.

The 140-metre vessel, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), offers a cargo capacity of 11,000 cubic metres and is tailored to enhance bitumen supply operations across Eastern Canada and the U.S.

“The McAsphalt Advantage marks a new chapter in our pursuit of operational excellence and environmental stewardship,” said Chuck Van Dyk, executive vice-president of McAsphalt Industries. “This vessel underscores our drive to innovate and enhance our services, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving demands of our clients while setting benchmarks for sustainability in our industry.”

François Vachon, executive vice-president of Colas Canada, highlighted the vessel’s role in improving logistics. “The McAsphalt Advantage reflects Colas’ commitment to enhancing its value chain by independently managing bitumen supply, improving production reliability, and responding effectively to customer needs,” he said.

The vessel bolsters McAsphalt’s logistics network, which includes railcars, freight agreements and road trailers supporting operations from Halifax to Vancouver.
