Canada Post warns of delivery delays as CUPW rotating strikes continue

Canada Post says customers should expect ongoing mail and parcel delays as rotating strikes by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) continue in several communities.

The Crown corporation said it is resuming operations nationwide following the end of a national strike, but rotating work stoppages are disrupting service in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, B.C., and St. Anthony, N.L. Strike activity has ended in Timmins, Ont.

Mail and parcels will not be delivered or picked up in areas where CUPW members are off the job, and Canada Post says it will resume deliveries as quickly as possible once work restarts. Service guarantees remain suspended.

Canada Post says it has not received a response from CUPW to its latest global offers presented Oct. 3, which it describes as affordable and respectful to employees while addressing financial pressures. Canada Post says new collective agreements are needed to restore stability and reduce reliance on taxpayer funding.
