Kraft Heinz Canada says it will invest $250 million to modernize its Mont Royal factory in Montreal, reinforcing its commitment to domestic manufacturing and Canadian production.
The company says the funds will be used to upgrade key systems at the facility, which employs more than 1,000 workers, with a focus on improving efficiency, sustainability and innovation.
Kraft Heinz Canada says the investment will also support the introduction of new production volume at the plant, aimed at strengthening domestic food manufacturing and supporting jobs and local communities.
“This investment underscores our more than 120-year-old commitment to Canada and producing the foods Canadians love right here at home,” said Simon Laroche, president of Kraft Heinz Canada. “This investment is a testament to the hard work and success of our Quebec employees. From Kraft Dinner to Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Kraft Peanut Butter, our Mont Royal facility plays a vital role in bringing these household staples to tables across the country.”
Federal Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne welcomed the announcement, saying it highlights Canada’s strength as a destination for industrial investment.
“When a global leader like Kraft Heinz chooses Canada, they are not only doubling down on their footprint in Canada today, but also cementing their long-term future in our country,” said Champagne. “This move recognizes the calibre of our highly skilled workforce and the resilience of our food industry. By bringing production here at home, we are securing our supply chains, supporting high-quality jobs and ensuring Canada remains a premier destination for industrial growth.”
The Mont Royal facility produces several of the company’s well-known brands and is expected to remain a key part of its Canadian operations as upgrades are carried out.
Kraft Heinz Canada says it employs about 2,000 people nationwide and its products are found in more than 95 per cent of Canadian households.
