MONTREAL, Quebec—The possibility of a strike by CN conductors and other employees seems to have been eliminated.
According to a statement issued by the railway, a tentative collective agreement was signed between the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) and CN. The TCRC represents approximately 3,000 CN train conductors, trainpersons, yardpersons and traffic coordinators on CN’s network in Canada.
As reported earlier this month, conciliation talks between the two organizations broke down on October 7, leaving the union in a legal strike position beginning October 28. The contract between CN and the teamsters had expired on July 22.
Details of the three-year labour contracts are being withheld pending ratification by the union’s membership.
