SCMA becomes Supply Chain Canada

TORONTO – The Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) has rebranded itself as Supply Chain Canada.

In a note to members the association said the change is partly to reduce confusion between the SCMA acronym for the association and the designation SCMP.

The name changes comes with a new tagline, “Professionals advancing the future”, which the association said “recognizes both the professional status of supply chain practitioners and their expansive and forward-looking perspective. It is intended to elevate the perception of supply chain practitioners, acknowledging the value they bring to their organizations and to the Canadian economy.”

President and CEO Christian Buhagiar said the new name “consolidates our brand across the country under a single name in every province and territory.”

SCMA was formed in 2013 through the amalgamation of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada and SCL (the Supply Chain and Logistics Association Canada).

Its objective is to deliver education and training in supply chain management, and promote the profession.
