Famous Pacific Shipping strengthens position in pacific islands

Famous Pacific Shipping (FPS) has continued its Pacific Islands expansion with the opening of a new branch office in Lautoka, Fiji.

An important trading town, Lautoka is the archipelago’s second city after Suva and the main break-bulk port for Fiji’s sugar exports. Sugarcane, along with tourism, is Fiji’s main industry and an important source of export revenue for the islands.

The new office will offer importers and exporters on the country’s main island of Viti Levu direct access to the FPS freight services network for cargoes to and from Asia. Lautoka is about three hours’ drive from the Suva, the island’s main town and port.

In 2001, FPS launched two direct shipping services between the Pacific Islands and Asia and Australasia. These include a weekly service between Auckland and Fiji, with onward connections to other Pacific islands including Kiribati, Wallis Island and Funafuti, for FCL and LCL shipments, breakbulk and heavy loads such as road making equipment. FPS Australia also operates a weekly freight all kinds service (FAK) from its offices in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to Fiji.

Manager of the new office is Mr Rajnesh Chand. FPS Fiji’s existing office at Suva will continue to handle operational matters in Fiji. The new Lautoka office address is:
