Top Fleet Employer

Home Hardware Stores Limited and Polaris Transportation Group have been named Top Fleet Employers by Trucking HR Canada. Home Hardware has been named for the ninth consecutive year, with distinction status for the fifth consecutive year. Polaris has received the five-year distinction award as well. Top Fleet Employers is a national program that honours the best trucking and logistics industry workplaces in Canada. Companies are evaluated on recruitment and retention practices, workplace culture, compensation, training and skills development, and innovative HR practices. Home Hardware has approximately 150 tractors and 600 trailers travelling 20 million kilometres per year. Polaris Transportation is the largest Canadian privately held cross border LTL carrier.

Good Design Award

The Yale narrow aisle reach truck, a lift truck designed for success in high-density warehousing applications, has been recognized with a 2021 Good Design Award. The Chicago Athenaeum runs the award program to create awareness about contemporary design and to honour products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing.

TIACA

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) announced winners in its Air Cargo Sustainability Awards. The awards have categories for start-ups and small business, as well as corporate and established businesses. A jury of six industry leaders and sustainability champions evaluated the submissions on their impact on society and industry, ease of implementation, innovation and the ‘wow’ factor. United Airlines won in the corporate category for its Eco-Skies Alliance program which is a new initiative for companies to come together and contribute to the purchase of sustainable aviation fuel. The jury selected three organizations as finalists in the start-up and small business category category and each will be invited to present at the TIACA’s executive summit, where the live audience will add their voice to selecting the ultimate winner. The finalists are Mission GO unmanned systems, which uses drone technology for organ transport; WAVES, which uses a cloud-based platform to allow visibility into sustainability initiaitves; and, Xfret, a container that can be placed on empty seats in commercial aircraft cabins. The winner will receive a US$10,000 cash prize, and the two runners up will each win $2,500.
