Alberta-based Westlock Terminals/Port of Westlock has secured a transloading partnership with NSD Warehouse and Distribution, marking the port’s first large-scale, long-term industrial agreement.
Westlock Terminals/Port of Westlock is a cooperative that is locally owned and operated by members, shareholders, governance and staff. Its activities include grain, trucking, intermodal, distillery, transloading and drayage.
As part of the agreement, a strategic series of rail shipments of high-grade steel coils will move through the port for Atlantic Industries Ltd., providing a corridor from the Port of Hamilton directly to Westlock.
“This agreement represents a defining moment for the Port of Westlock,” said Clifford Bell, CEO of Westlock Terminals. “Securing industrial volumes of this scale underscores our operational excellence, strategic value, and ability to deliver flexible, reliable solutions to customers across Canada and global supply chains. This positions the port as a critical logistics gateway for industrial growth and long-term supply chain resilience.”
The port said transloading steel coils at Westlock enhances predictability, reduces congestion at destination facilities, and minimizes material handling, delivering faster, smarter, and more resilient supply chains.
“The Port of Westlock provides the operational stability we need to move beyond one-off shipments into sustained rail programs, while remaining cost-effective and highly competitive for our customers,” said Lee Pineo, general manager of NSD Warehouse and Distribution.
