CP opens new transload facility in Montréal

CALGARY – Canadian Pacific has opened its new multi-commodity transload facility in Montréal.

The new facility offers transloading services and supplementary intermodal transportation and distribution services from CP’s Côte Saint-Luc yard, with space available for future expansion. CP will operate the facility with TYT Group, a Québec-based freight transportation services provider.

Operating seven days a week, the new rail-served facility includes 118,000 square feet of heated, customizable space. It has 30 to 32-foot clear ceilings, 11 dock doors and indoor storage for up to 18 railcars.

It is designed to receive, unload, carry and deliver rail traffic for various commodities, with a focus on steel, metals, aggregates, and pulp and paper. Surrounded by more than 4,000 feet of existing and adjacent track, the location can conduct for indoor or outdoor transloading operations.

“CP is building capacity and expanding our ability to serve customers by providing reliable multi-commodity transload services and logistics solutions,” said Mike Mohan, vice-Ppresident, sales and marketing, regional sales and transload.

“The site also offers 50 acres of additional expansion capacity so that we can continue to extend CP’s reach to markets not directly served by rail.”

The site is five kilometres from the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, two kilometres from the Trans Canada Highway, via highways 520, 13, 15 and 20, and 15 kilometres to the Port of Montréal. It also has two separate entrances to allow truck drivers to avoid traffic.

TYT Group has been operating since 1980, focusing on road, maritime and rail.
