Lakeridge Logistics Centre earns zero-carbon certification

Pure Industrial says its Lakeridge Logistics Centre (LLC) in Ajax, Ont., has become the largest industrial property in Canada to receive Zero-Carbon Building (ZCB) Design certification.

The designation, administered by the Canada Green Building Council, highlights new builds and major renovations that meet rigorous energy efficiency and carbon reduction targets.

“We built Lakeridge Logistics Centre with our customers’ needs top of mind,” said David Owen, president of Pure Industrial. “With its strategic location and state-of-the-art features including ZCB-design certification and related efficiencies for our customers, this facility offers significant advantages for businesses seeking a competitive edge in the GTA.”

The one-million-square-foot-plus facility offers visibility from Hwy 401 and includes a range of sustainable features such as onsite solar power, a high-performance envelope, advanced mechanical systems, and infrastructure supporting electric vehicles and alternative transportation.

“Lakeridge Logistics Centre’s Zero Carbon Building Design certification demonstrates the growing demand for low-carbon industrial real estate and the business case for energy-efficient, electrified buildings,” said Mark Hutchinson, senior vice-president of green building programs and innovation at the Canada Green Building Council.

Ben Sykes, principal at Avison Young, added: “This remarkable building sets the sustainability standard of the future for industrial properties in the Greater Toronto Area and across Canada.”

Pure Industrial says LLC is built to meet future electrification and regulatory needs, with a solar-ready roof, increased electrical capacity and electrified heating systems.
