VANCOUVER – Shipping line Hapag-Lloyd has reported that two crew members on its Sofia Express, which is operating in the company’s Pacific North Loop 4 (PN4) service, tested positive for Covid-19 while the vessel was at anchor at the port of Vancouver’s Deltaport terminal.
Local authorities were notified and the mariners were immediately isolated and taken to a quarantine facility ashore. All other crew members on the vessel are being monitored and tested as deemed appropriate by the authorities.
In a message to customers the company said it was “hoping for a speedy recovery” for the crew.
The vessel was delayed due to terminal congestion but both loading and discharging operations have been completed. The situation involving the crew has further changed the vessel’s schedule and the ship is expected to continue her voyage shortly towards Pusan.
