Walmart plans to build a new e-commerce fulfillment centre in Salt Lake City. The one million square-foot facility is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022 and will create approximately 450 full-time, permanent jobs across the region. In the third quarter of 2022, Walmart U.S. e-commerce sales grew eight percent for the quarter and 87 percent over the past two years. Walmart operates three DCs in Utah.

Vertical Cold Storage

Vertical Cold Storage has purchased Lone Star Cold Storage of Richardson, Texas. The terms of the transaction are not public. The Richardson warehouse is 227,000 square feet with 5,645,661 cubic feet of storage space, 17,982 pallet positions and 40 dock doors. The facility, which uses an ammonia refrigeration system, is partitioned into seven rooms allowing for multiple temperatures from -20 to 45 degrees. Services include blast freezing, case picking, cross dock and EDI capabilities, with kitting support. Vertical Cold Storage is a South Dakota based full-service solution provider that builds, develops and operates temperature-controlled facilities throughout the United States.

JRW Realty

JRW Realty has closed on the transaction of a 1,283,360-square-foot single-tenant distribution centre in Effingham, Illinois. The property is tenanted by Sherwin-Williams, which manufactures and distributes building materials such as paints and coatings.


Amazon opened a new fulfillment centre in Montgomery, N.Y. The one million-square-foot facility employs 800, who  pick, pack and ship large customer items. Amazon has also signed new leases including for a new fulfillment centre in Gates, N.Y., and a sortation centre in Ogden, N.Y. These new leases join an existing roster of sites in Greece, which now offers customers a complete end-to-end fulfillment operations in the Rochester area. The company also signed a lease in Hawthorne, N.Y., for a new delivery station.


3PL OSM Worldwide has opened a new, 149,000-sq.-ft. facility in Grand Prairie, Texas. The new campus is centrally located between Dallas and Fort Worth, just minutes from DFW airport. The company’s OSMART system for parcel management runs the operation, which also includes a high-speed NPI Xstream sorter. The site also offers dedicated, onsite trailer parking space for pickups, deliveries and transfers. Additional features include energy-efficient LED lighting and high-volume, low-speed (HVLS) air movement.
