Amazon hiring more than 100,000 seasonal workers

SEATTLE, Washington—Amazon.com, Inc is creating 100,000 seasonal positions across its US network of fulfillment and sortation centres this holiday season in order to meet the increase in customer demand. In the months leading up to this holiday season, Amazon has also hired tens of thousands of regular, full-time employees.

Amazon has more than 90,000 full-time employees across its more than 50 fulfillment centres and 20 sortation centres in the US. To meet customer demand and prepare for the 2015 holiday season, Amazon has hired over 25,000 full-time employees since August. Throughout the year on average, nearly 90 percent of associates across the company’s US fulfillment network are regular, full-time employees.

Amazon also offers regular, full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where it will pre-pay 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. The company recently announced the expansion of the program with the creation of dedicated, onsite classrooms at eight of its fulfillment centers across the U.S. The classrooms feature high-end technology and allow employees to take college classes, industry certification courses, college readiness programs and business seminars onsite.
