UPS Healthcare

UPS has opened a cold chain and packaging centre at its Louisville, Kentucky, UPS Healthcare campus near the Worldport global air hub. The company’s temperature-controlled facilities are designed to handle biologically derived drugs, such as vaccines, at any temperature. The newest facility, named the ‘Cold Chain Packaging Center of Excellence,’ is the company’s first U.S.-based logistics facility to offer reusable cold chain packaging options, utilizing the entire life cycle of temperature-controlled packages.

Lineage Logistics

Lineage Logistics plans to break ground on a new facility near the Port of Savannah to handle fresh produce and perishable imports. The company will invest US$62 million in the new cross-dock building. The facility will also provide fumigation, packaging and other value-added services. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2022. Lineage also announced the Phase I opening of a temperature-controlled warehouse adjacent to the Port of Savannah. Serving both imported and exported products like poultry, the facility includes a 19,000-square-foot blast freezer, a boxing room and customs brokerage capabilities.

Cargo Force & USPS

Cargo Force is opening four new facilities across the United States to facilitate mail and express mail services in partnership with United States Postal Service (USPS) after signing a seven-year, US$100 million contract. The new facilities, located in Seattle, Washington; San Diego, California; Detroit, Michigan; and, Orlando, Florida, cover 173,000 square feet in total and will create 255 new jobs across the four sites. The Seattle facility opened its doors October 4, and the San Diego, Detroit, and Orlando facilities opened on  November 1. Cargo Force, based in Miami, Florida, provides terminal handling services for the USPS Priority Mail service product.

Gebrüder Weiss

Gebrüder Weiss has added a newly constructed 67,000-square-foot warehouse near Atlanta, Georgia. The warehouse will provide storage, pick and pack, major retailer compliance capabilities, e-commerce solutions, and services such as kitting. The warehouse is designed with 22 dock doors, Early Suppression, Fast Response (ESFR) sprinklers, racking, and bulk and small part distribution areas.
