DC Developments: May 23, 2023

FlexCold

FlexCold plans to open its second cold storage facility in the U.S., which will be built in Charleston, South Carolina,, where the Company’s headquarters are located. The new facility is expected to be operational by late summer 2024. The first facility, located in Jacksonville near the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), opened in the fall of 2022. The new facility will cost US$50 million, and will be within 30 minutes of the Port of Charleston. The facility will handle seafood, blast freezing, USDA and FDA inspections, as well as other services. The facility will offer more than 30,000 pallet positions of cold-storage space.

URBN

URBN is building a $60 million distribution centre in Raymore, Missouri. The 604,000-square-foot facility will be dedicated to the company’s Nuuly brand of subscription clothing rentals. The company plans to locate its fulfillment and laundry facility at the Raymore Commerce Center.

Tractor Supply

Tractor Supply Company has opened a 900,000 square-foot distribution centre in Navarre, Ohio. Construction on the  building began in May 2021 and was completed in December 2022. It began shipping orders in February 2023. The Navarre facility is the company’s first distribution centre to open since 2018, and its ninth overall. It will serve about 250 stores and fill e-commerce orders for online customers in Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and other parts of the Upper Midwest region. The DC is the first Tractor Supply facility built to LEED Gold standards. It has a rooftop solar array system with more than 10,000 solar panels that will produce five megawatts of electricity per year. This is enough to meet the entire building’s electricity needs while reducing its carbon footprint by approximately 4,100 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. The facility will also utilize electric fork trucks powered by lithium-ion batteries.

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics has established a 480,000 sq.ft. transload facility in Houston. Located in the overweight corridor five miles from the Bayport Terminal in Houston, RoadOne’s new facility helps clients who utilize overweight import and export services for their products. The  facility is equipped with 125 dock doors, and more than 550 onsite parking spots for trailers and containers on a total of 9.5 acres. Both the warehouse and the yard will have a multi-layered security framework which includes cameras, a fully fenced and gated perimeter, as well as 24-hour security guards for 24/7 access for RoadOne customers and drivers.
