SEATTLE – Amazon.com, Inc. plans to open two new fulfillment centres in Kansas. The new centres are anticipated to launch in 2021.
In both of the new one million square-foot fulfillment centres located in Kansas City and Park City, approximately 1,000 staff will work to pick, pack, and ship bulky or larger-sized customer items such as patio furniture, outdoor equipment, or rugs.
Amazon also plans to open a new delivery station in Wichita, Kansas, which is expected to launch later in 2020.
Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 4,500 jobs in Kansas and invested more than $2.9 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation. These investments have contributed an additional $2.3 billion in GDP to the Kansas economy and have helped create over 4,100 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires – from jobs in construction and logistics to professional services.
In addition, more than 10,500 independent authors and small and medium businesses in Kansas are selling to customers in Amazon’s store, creating thousands of additional jobs across the state.
