A.P. Moller – Maersk A/S is reporting a strong start to 2025, with first-quarter revenue rising 7.8 per cent year-over-year to US$13.3 billion and EBIT increasing to US$1.3 billion, up from US$177 million during the same period in 2024.
The company credits the growth to improved profitability in its ocean division, operational gains in logistics and services and higher volumes in its terminals segment.
“We delivered strong results compared to the same quarter last year, driven by momentum in our operational efficiency and a global economy in good shape for the first three months,” said Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc. “With trade tensions flaring up and uncertainty on the rise, global supply chains are once again in the spotlight.”
Clerc added that Maersk is “doubling down on the work underway on automation and cost management,” and remains confident in meeting its previously issued guidance for the full year.
Ocean EBIT rose to US$743 million thanks to stable volumes and higher rates. Logistics and services posted a 4.1 per cent EBIT margin, buoyed by freight management growth and productivity improvements. Terminals also delivered strong results with higher revenue per move and return on invested capital climbing to 14.5 per cent.
Despite a more cautious outlook for container volume growth, Maersk says it is maintaining its full-year 2025 financial guidance.
