The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) has launched TraversEd, a new educational arm designed to meet the needs of freight forwarding organizations and learners outside of Canada.
Building on CIFFA’s 40-year legacy of educating Canadians in freight forwarding and logistics, TraversEd aims to extend this expertise to a global audience. Currently, CIFFA delivers training to over 300 freight forwarding member firms and partners with colleges across Canada, registering 10,000 students annually for the CIFFA certificate in international freight forwarding.
TraversEd offers education and certification two ways. Online and through affiliated educational institutions.
TraversEd’s online courses allow learners to start and finish at their own pace, from anywhere in the world. Interactive, narrated lessons are designed to teach the competencies required by freight forwarding organizations.
Training new and existing staff can be costly and time consuming, as can maintaining training programs to keep up with constant change. These online courses are solutions for freight forwarding companies to offer as initial training to new employees and to build the skill sets of for future leaders. Global networks can also partner with TraversEd to offer their members the training.
Many international business, supply chain and global logistics programs do not cover specific competencies required to fulfill the role of an international freight forwarder. TraversEd will ensure that students receive specific education on the competencies employers want.
The program offers post-secondary institutions the tools to integrate one or all courses into a new or existing international business curriculum. TraversEd provides complete e-textbooks, instructor guides, course syllabus, slides, online examinations, online lessons, and support for instructors.
The program’s core offering is the TraversEd Global Trade Certificate (TGT), which includes completion of 1 to 3 levels in the following courses:
I. International Transportation and Trade – Level 1 or 2
II. Essentials of Freight Forwarding – Level 1 or 2
III. Advanced Freight Services – Level 3
TraversEd and CIFFA currently partner with 16 College institutions in Canada and multiple freight forwarding networks including Globalia Logistics network, RW Solutions, the Cooperative logistics networks, and Conquerer freight network.
TraversEd will now begin partnering with US and international academic institutions, associations and corporations.
