CITT and CIFFA announce reciprocal training discounts for members

CITT – Canada’s Logistics Association and the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) have launched a new initiative to provide preferred rates on professional development programs to each other’s members.

Under the agreement, employees of CIFFA member companies can enrol in all three of CITT’s Environmental Sustainability in Canadian Logistics microcredential courses at a preferred rate. Participants who complete the trio of courses will earn a CITT microcredential. CIFFA members will receive a coupon code by email as part of the association’s announcement of the agreement.

The three courses are: Introduction to Sustainability in Transportation & Distribution; Sustainability Challenges and Solutions in Transportation & Distribution; and Technologies Supporting Sustainability in Transportation & Distribution.

In turn, CITT members will receive exclusive preferred pricing on CIFFA’s TDG-compliant, fully online and on-demand Dangerous Goods certification programs.

The Air and Ocean Dangerous Goods (IMDG Code) courses certify professionals to accept and process dangerous goods shipments in compliance with regulatory standards. CITT members will receive instructions on accessing the discount through an announcement email and via the members-only section of the CITT website.

“This initiative truly embodies the spirit of cooperation we aspire to with our industry alliance partners,” said Pina Melchionna, president and CEO of CITT. “Leveraging each other’s strengths and professional development opportunities for our members helps makes the industry better trained and more competitive. Each association has its areas of expertise – but ours is a complex profession and the roles of people in supply chain logistics often blur lines.

“CIFFA has been a long-time collaborator and ally of CITT, and we’re thrilled to continue to work together to the direct benefit of our members and the sector.”

“The collaboration between CIFFA and CITT reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Canada’s logistics profession,” said Stephen McDermott, director of education at CIFFA and vice-president and chief learning officer at TraversEd. “By expanding access to CITT’s sustainability-focused programs, we are giving our members the practical tools they need to respond to rising ESG expectations and regulatory demands. At the same time, broadening the reach of TDG-compliant Dangerous Goods certification across air and ocean modes is essential — compliance and safety are foundational to operational excellence and global credibility.”
