CITT – Canada’s Logistics Association – has announced the launch of the Canadian Transportation and Distribution Logistics microcredential, marking a significant step in making high-quality logistics education widely accessible.
Previously limited to exclusive settings and designed for employees of leading companies aiming to rapidly build foundational logistics competencies, this microcredential is now open to the broader industry. The first online course begins Jan. 20, 2025, with participants expected to complete it by summer 2025.
This program is tailored for early-career professionals seeking to develop a strong foundation in essential logistics skills. Additionally, it offers the credibility of a credential from Canada’s Logistics Association, enhancing resumes and career prospects.
“This is perhaps the most exciting new offering in my time here at the organization” says Pina Melchionna, CITT’s president and CEO. “For some time now, we’ve been hearing from people in the industry how important it is to them to build their credibility and skills quickly. Both from individuals looking to accelerate their careers, and from senior management who want to give their teams a baseline understanding of the business to set them up for success.”
CITT reports significant interest in this credential from corporate partners, citing its effectiveness in quickly training teams on both the shipper and carrier sides. It also benefits professionals in sales and other roles requiring a deeper understanding of transportation, distribution and logistics.
The microcredential provides credit toward CITT’s CCLP (CITT-Certified Logistics Professional) designation, positioning it as an ideal entry point for those aspiring to achieve full certification.
“We’ve had tremendously positive feedback on this microcredential from the organizations we’ve been offering it to exclusively,” said Melchionna. “Given the demand, it only makes sense to open this up to the entire industry. It’s truly in step with our mandate of serving everyone in the sector and giving people and businesses the abilities to thrive.”
