Trucking HR Canada expands student work placement program with new federal funding

Trucking HR Canada says it has secured additional funding for its Student Work Placement Program, expanding opportunities for post-secondary students to gain paid work experience in the country’s trucking and logistics sector.

The organization said the increased investment, provided through the federal government’s Student Work Placement Program, will double the number of wage incentives available to employers that hire students for work placements.

“Canada’s trucking and logistics sector is fundamental to the functioning of our supply chains and the strength of our economy,” said Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “This expanded investment reflects the growing recognition of our sector’s importance and the need to develop the next generation of skilled professionals who will keep Canada moving.”

Under the program, employers receive wage incentives to hire post-secondary students in roles related to their field of study, providing students with hands-on experience while helping companies access emerging talent.

Placements are available across a range of occupations in the trucking and logistics sector, including human resources and workforce planning, operations and logistics coordination, safety and compliance, information technology and data analytics, and finance, administration and marketing.

“Work-integrated learning is one of the most effective ways to prepare students for the workforce,” said Splinter. “By expanding this program, we are helping employers strengthen their talent pipeline while ensuring students gain meaningful experience in a sector that plays such a vital role in Canada’s economy.”

Trucking HR Canada said the expanded funding will allow more employers across the country to participate in the program and create additional opportunities for students to explore careers in trucking and logistics.
