ATLANTA, Georgia – Due to recent developments related to Coronavirus (COVID-19), Kion and sister company Dematic have decided to cancel their participation in the MODEX 2020 tradeshow next week.

In a statement, Kion said: “Given the increasing spread of the coronavirus worldwide and now also in various states throughout the United States, including Georgia, Kion North America has decided not to send employees to participate in the MODEX 2020 tradeshow.”

Kion says the decision was made purely for health and safety reasons, arguing that at a large event like MODEX “there is  no guarantee that a spread of the coronavirus can be prevented”.

“Kion North America prides itself on the health and safety of its employees and its customers, and for this reason, we have decided not to send our employees, but we plan to have a presence at the show still,” said Max Heller, CEO of Kion North America..

In a separate statement, Dematic said: “The safety and well-being of our Dematic team and our customers is our top priority, and we are following all procedures and guidelines shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our parent company, the Kion Group.

Although we will not participate in this large event, we will continue to conduct business travel as usual to support our customers, as long as it is safe for our employees to do so.”

Dematic says that its leadership team will be available for meetings at its global headquarters in Midtown Atlanta during the MODEX show.
