CAMBRIDGE, Ontario: Marking the latest phase of its ongoing expansion plans, Pival International Inc’s Pival Expedite division opened the doors on its new headquarters yesterday.
The two-year-old division has grown from two employees to 30. This growth necessitated a move from the company’s original Cambridge facility to its new 280sqm (3,000sqf) space.
The mayor of Cambridge, Doug Craig, led the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the office and warehouse space.
“We have a small [warehouse] space. Basically when we transport something that is critical we’re not going to take it through a sorting centre like a lot of other companies do and mix it in with a lot of other products. Occasionally we’ll pick up with our 24ft truck at a dock level facility—the shipper’s location. Then when we go to move the product, they don’t have a dock. They prefer we transfer it to a smaller unit, so we’ll do a little bit of cross docking activities,” said Pival’s president, Mario La Barbera.
Kevin Little, vice-president of the Expedite division, said increasing demand means Pival needed to grow to keep up with its customers.
“All of our clients are growing. And we’re doing everything we can to help them do that. We have 170 active customers and every one of them is shipping with us,” he said.
