The Growing Complexities of Global Supply Chains

Share

The pandemic has put our global supply chain on its head but other factors like the growth of eCommerce, Brexit, a port strike, the blockage of the Suez Canal, demonstrate how supply chains have gotten more complex. What’s the impact on businesses, consumers, and the environment?

In this Brown Bag Lunch, we will explain these challenges in order to understand them better and discuss possible solutions, like reshoring, sourcing locally, moving from ‘’just in time’’ to building buffer stocks. Ultimately, we’ll touch on what we can do as individual entrepreneurs and consumers.

Christian Siviere spent 30+ years working in international logistics before starting an import-export consultancy in 2010 where he provides training/consulting on the logistics, customs, and regulatory aspects of International Trade and Supply Chain Management. He works with organizations such as the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, Invest Ottawa, and Supply Chain Canada.

Brown Bag Lunches are Impact Hub Ottawa’s weekly lunch & learns led by Hubbers, for members and non-members alike. Topics vary each week, but you’re always sure to learn something new!
