The federal government has launched a Supply Chain Advisory Council to provide strategic advice on improving Canada’s supply chain efficiency, competitiveness and trade diversification.
Transport Minister Anita Anand announced the council, saying it will help ensure Canadians have reliable access to goods and services while positioning the country as a strong global trading partner.
“I am thrilled to announce the establishment of the Supply Chain Advisory Council, which will facilitate the collaboration between the federal government and industry leaders,” Anand said in a statement.
The council includes representatives from transportation, business and labour groups, including the Canadian Trucking Alliance, Port of Montreal, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and Unifor.
Employment Minister Steven MacKinnon said the initiative will help address workforce challenges in transportation and logistics, while Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said it will support economic growth by reducing barriers to interprovincial trade.
The council will work alongside the National Supply Chain Office, which was launched last year to improve efficiency and reliability in Canada’s supply networks.
