DP World has opened a new freight forwarding office in Montreal, expanding its Canadian logistics network and strengthening its end-to-end supply chain capabilities.
Located in Saint-Laurent, Que., the office will support customers across the retail and industrial sectors while offering services in both French and English. It marks the company’s third freight forwarding location in Canada, alongside existing operations in Vancouver and Toronto.
Customers will have access to a range of services, including full container load and less than container load ocean freight, air freight, domestic container trucking, customs clearance, international cargo insurance and project freight services.
“Canada’s growing trade economy requires integrated, resilient logistics networks that can scale with customer demand,” said Doug Smith, CEO of DP World in Canada. “The launch of our Montreal freight forwarding office and the development of the new Contrecoeur terminal represent our long-term commitment to strengthening Quebec’s role as a key gateway for global commerce. By expanding our logistics network here, we’re creating the infrastructure, technology and partnerships that will drive sustainable growth for decades to come.”
DP World operates five port terminals in Canada — Fraser Surrey, Nanaimo, Prince Rupert, Saint John and Vancouver — along with three warehouses in Ontario and Quebec.
The Montreal expansion follows a joint development agreement announced earlier this year by the Montreal Port Authority to construct and operate the proposed Contrecoeur container terminal, a multibillion-dollar project expected to more than double the region’s container-handling capacity.
The company said the new office and terminal development are part of its strategy to provide integrated supply chain solutions from port to final delivery, while helping Quebec importers and exporters improve access to logistics services, better align freight capacity with demand and enhance supply chain reliability.
“By combining our port, logistics and digital assets, we are creating a truly end-to-end service offering in Canada,” said Smith. “Our new Montreal location establishes a strong foundation for DP World’s growing presence in Quebec and supports the province’s long-term trade ambitions – connecting local businesses to global markets and bringing international opportunity closer to home.”
