SEATTLE – Amazon.com, Inc. will open its first fulfillment centre in Idaho, creating more than 1,000 full-time jobs in a partly roboticized facility. The DC will be located in Nampa and will open in 2020.
Amazon will fulfill customer orders such as books, electronics and toys from the 650,000-square-foot Idaho centre.
The company also announced a new fulfillment centre in Channahon, Illinois.
It is slated to create more than 500 new, full-time jobs. Employees at the more than one million-square-foot fulfillment centre will pick, pack and ship large customer items, such as sports equipment, patio furniture, fishing rods, pet food, kayaks, bicycles, and larger household goods.
Amazon currently employs more than 11,000 full-time associates throughout the state of Illinois.
