TORONTO: Employees at material handling company Johnston Equipment have raised over $12,000 in support of the Canadian Red Cross’s Japanese Relief Fund 2011. All 12 Johnston branches participated in fundraising events. The company has strong ties with parent company Toyota Material Handling North America and The Raymond Corporation.

“It’s hard for us to imagine not contributing to the relief fund,” said Johnston Equipment president Michael Marcotte. “Everyone at Johnston was driven to do his or her part in helping the victims of this tragedy. Our employees have shown tremendous generosity and compassion and for that I am proud to be a part of this organization.”

On April 29 Johnston employees presented Cay Nadon, senior manager, corporate partnerships fund development for the Canadian Red Cross, with a cheque for $12,000. Employees raised the money through events such as lunch events, prize raffles, donations, games, bake sales and flea market sales.
