Who’s on the move this week?

Each week, MM&D features a roundup of new appointments and position changes within the supply chain sector.

Colman Roche has been named executive vice-president at Sapient Automation, a provider of automated storage and retrieval systems. Roche will be responsible for leading several areas within Sapient Automation while implementing automated storage and retrieval material handling systems. Roche is the former vice-president of sales for KardexRemstar and also worked for White Systems as product engineer, research and development engineer, project manager and systems engineer. Roche holds a bachelor of science in engineering from Trinity College, Dublin , an engineering diploma from the Dublin Institute of Technology, an MBA from Rutgers University in New Jersey and executive education certificate from Harvard Business School.

DHL has appointed Hans Toggweiler as chief executive officer, industrial projects, at DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. Toggweiler will be responsible for the development, growth and profitability of DHL’s industrial projects for customers in the energy, mining, power generation and construction industries. A 40-year veteran of the transportation logistics industry, Hans joined the group in 1998 and has worked most recently as CEO for DHL Global Forwarding, Americas. In his new role, he will continue to serve on the DHL Global Forwarding, Freight Management Board.

Mathieu Floreani has taken over as head of DHL Global Forwarding, Americas. He will also serve on the global forwarding freight management board. In his new post, he will be responsible for growth and development in the Americas. Floreani joined DHL in 2004 as marketing and sales director at DHL Express. He joined the DHL Express France management board as vice-president, marketing and sales and assumed responsibility for customer service centres and the business support and development functions. In 2008 Mathieu moved to Canada to lead the DHL Express organization as country CEO.

Barcoding, Inc has promoted Martin Jack to chief technology officer. Going forward, all technical resources will be consolidated under Jack’s management. He will be the external face of Barcoding’s Technology Platform, where he will identify, develop and integrate new technologies. Jack started at Barcoding in 2007 as the director of software services. He began his career as a software engineer for mobile computers in 1991. Jack earned a master’s degree in software engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.

The company has also hired Jeff Bateman as controller.  Bateman is responsible for managing the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting policies and procedures and compliance. Bateman also spent five years as controller for Protech Associates, Inc and held several financial positions for various companies. Bateman holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting/finance and business administration from the University of Baltimore. Barcoding has also added Kyle Gold and Christopher Goodman as executive account managers. They will support current and new enterprise customers from Barcoding’s Baltimore headquarters. Gold comes to Barcoding from Cadec Global, where he served as a regional sales executive. He also spent four years as sales director at Airclic, Inc and 17 years as a national account manager (Eastern Region) at USA Mobility. Gold graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in journalism/public relations.
