Federal funding supports trucking and logistics workforce development

Trucking HR Canada says it has received nearly $7 million in federal funding over five years to support workforce planning, recruitment and retention in Canada’s trucking and logistics sector.

The funding, provided through the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program, will help expand labour market and skills intelligence and develop recruitment and retention tools for employers. Trucking HR Canada is one of 14 organizations selected to receive funding to support workforce development and labour market intelligence across key sectors of the Canadian economy.

The organization says the investment will help employers anticipate labour needs, improve productivity and strengthen workforce capacity supporting domestic supply chains and international trade.

“Workers are the backbone of our economy, driving success in every corner of our country. The world is at a hinge moment — and we’re focused on what we can control: investing in people and building strength at home. By supporting Trucking HR Canada, we’re strengthening our supply chains, creating good opportunities for workers, and helping communities across the country stay competitive and resilient. Together, we are building Canada strong,” said Jobs and Families Minister Patty Hajdu.

“Canada’s economy is strongest when our workers and industries have the support they need to adapt and thrive. In a moment of global uncertainty and economic change, investing in the people who keep our supply chains moving is how we protect jobs, strengthen communities, and build resilience,” said Leslie Church, parliamentary secretary for labour, seniors, children and youth and persons with disabilities.

“For trucking and logistics employers, workforce pressures directly affect productivity, service reliability and competitiveness,” said Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “This funding allows Trucking HR Canada to deliver enhanced labour market insights and tools employers can use to build the workforce capacity that keeps Canada’s supply chains and trade moving.”
