The Manitoba government has announced a $250,000 one-time grant to support the operating expenses of CentrePort Canada Inc.
“Since its launch in 2009, CentrePort Canada Inc. has not only brought excellent jobs to Manitoba but has helped put Manitoba on the map as a transportation and supply chain hub for North America,” said Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor. “Our government is pleased to continue supporting this innovative organization as it works to grow Manitoba’s economy and bring new companies to CentrePort.”
CentrePort Canada Inc., a not-for-profit organization, facilitates development of the CentrePort Canada Inland Port, promoting Manitoba and fostering business investments through marketing and relationship building with local and international stakeholders.
Over the past six years, the inland port has issued development permits with an economic impact of $785 million, welcomed more than 250 new companies and initiated over three million square feet of industrial construction, including nine new industrial parks such as CentrePort Canada Rail Park.
“On behalf of CentrePort Canada Inc., I would like to express our gratitude to the Manitoba government for their continued support and collaborative relationship,” said Shreeraj Patel, chair of the CentrePort Canada Inc. board of directors. “This investment will enable us to build on our current momentum, amplify the significant strides we have already made and create even more opportunities for Manitoba.”
CentrePort, located in Winnipeg and the Rural Municipality of Rosser, is North America’s largest inland port, encompassing 20,000 acres at the junction of major rail, truck and air cargo corridors.
