The federal government is providing more than $5 million in repayable funding to three southwestern Ontario manufacturers to help expand operations, adopt advanced technologies and strengthen local supply chains.
Arielle Kayabaga, deputy House leader of the government and Liberal MP for London West, announced the investment during a visit to Hydra Dyne Technology Inc. on behalf of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Minister Evan Solomon, who is also responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
Hydra Dyne Technology Inc., which manufactures hydraulic components for the defence, aerospace and automotive sectors, is receiving $2 million to expand its manufacturing capabilities through the adoption of advanced automation equipment. The upgrades are expected to help the company meet growing demand, reduce waste and strengthen local supply chains.
“This investment will accelerate our ability to innovate and expand, allowing us to enhance advanced manufacturing capabilities and deliver world-class hydraulic solutions to our customers,” said Haidar Chandu, general manager of Hydra Dyne Technology Inc. “With this support, Hydra Dyne Technology is positioned to create new jobs, strengthen our supply chain and contribute to the growth of southwestern Ontario.”
Future Transfer Co. Inc., headquartered in Tillsonburg, Ont., is receiving $2.5 million to install advanced automated equipment and build a fully integrated Ontario-based crop protection supply chain. The company specializes in logistics and materials handling and said the investment will increase on-site manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on imports.
“This project strengthens Ontario’s ag-chem supply chain by expanding local manufacturing capacity and advancing the use of automation and modern production technologies. With the help of FedDev Ontario’s investment, the project will support job creation, supply-chain resilience and cleaner operations while helping ensure Canadian farmers have reliable access to domestically produced crop-protection products,” said Chan Perera, president of Future Transfer Co. Inc.
Melnik Resources, based in Mount Brydges, Ont., is receiving more than $530,000 to modernize its facility with advanced systems and a new laser cutter to support growth across audiovisual and other manufacturing sectors.
