WestJet has appointed Kirsten de Brujin as executive vice-president, cargo. De Brujin will join WestJet’s executive leadership team later in April. She brings with her a large portfolio of air cargo experience and more than 15 years in the airline industry. She joins WestJet Cargo most recently from Qatar Airways, where she served as senior vice-president cargo sales and network planning. Previously de Brujin was vice-president, cargo pricing and interline at Emirates Sky Cargo.
Hazel McCallion has been reappointed as the federal representative on the board of directors of the Greater Toronto Airport Authority for a period of three years. She was first appointed on August 31, 2017. McCallion was one of the longest serving mayors in Canada, having served as mayor of the City of Mississauga for 36 years.
McCallion was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 2005 and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto in 2010. She has been a special adviser to the University of Toronto Mississauga since 2015.
Beckhoff USA has hired Nathan Hibbs and promoted Gilbert Petersen. Hibbs will serve as a material handling and intralogistics business development manager for Beckhoff USA. He worked at B&R Industrial Automation since 2011, starting as sales engineer and working up to channel sales manager. Based in Greater Atlanta, he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Petersen moved into the role of material handling and intralogistics application specialist at the beginning of 2022. He started at the company as an application engineer in 2012 and was promoted to system consultant in 2019. Before Beckhoff, Petersen worked as technical director for integrated web finishing systems and application manager for Baumüller LNI. He is based in central Massachusetts.
