Stuart Bernstein has joined the board of directors for Xos, Inc., effective October 20th. XOS provides fleet services, software solutions, and manufactures Class 5 through Class 8 battery-electric commercial vehicles. Bernstein will serve as a member of the audit and compensation committees. Bernstein replaces Sara Mathew, a current Class III director, who will be stepping down from the board. Bernstein is the founder and managing member of Sustainable Capital LLC. Prior to that, he was a long-time partner at Goldman Sachs. Bernstein is also senior advisor to G2VP; Story3 Capital Partners; and, Kimpact. He earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and his MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Tompkins Robotics has appointed two new leaders to its executive team. Pat Mathavan has joined the company as legal and intellectual property (IP) counsel, and Michael Carmody was named vice-president of robots as a service (RaaS) business development and sales. Mathavan previously held in-house IP/patent attorney roles at Vesuvius Corporation, IBM, and at various law firms specializing in intellectual property. He earned his J.D. with a specialization in Intellectual Property Law from Quinnipiac University School of Law, and an MBA from Southern Connecticut State University. He is also a Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in New Hampshire, and currently pursuing his MEng in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State University. Before joining Tompkins Robotics, Carmody led 3PL business development for AutoStore North America; delivered software transformation as principal consultant in transportation system implementations with enVista, and led cloud TMS implementations for MercuryGate. Carmody is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Masters in Geography focused on logistic networks optimization.
AFS Logistics has appointed Kevin Day as president of less-than-truckload (LTL). Day has over 25 years of logistics industry experience, including more than 11 years in executive leadership roles. Day earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Central Washington University and began his career as a national account executive at XPO Logistics, Inc. He eventually moved into executive leadership, serving as director of pricing at Echo Global Logistics, and prior to joining AFS, served as vice-president and general manager of LTL at Coyote Logistics.
