Mississauga, Ontario —Through its current Supply Chain Links project, the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council, with help from CSA Group and with significant contributions from stakeholders, is creating 15 new occupational standards for the supply chain sector.
Five of the standards have just been finalized and are ready for use. They add to the six released in January and the 33 developed through earlier projects.
The new occupational standards are:
Occupational standards can be used to develop job descriptions and job-performance tools, plan education and training programs, identify career paths and more.
At an average of eight to 12 pages in length, the Council’s standards are short, concise and easy to use. Each includes: a position description; required qualifications, in terms of education, training and related work experience; a list of the tasks performed by employees in the role; tools and technologies used on the job; a catalogue of the knowledge, skills and personal attributes needed to succeed in the position; and, an essential-skills profile.
Standards are now in development for the following occupations. These will be the last standards created through the current project.
As part of the development process of the new standards, draft documents are posted both in the CSA Community of Interest (https://community.csagroup.org) and on the Supply Chain Links project page on the CSCSC website for public consultation. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on the accuracy and completeness of the documents to ensure that they are relevant and useful to Canada’s supply chain employers and workers. The public-consultation period for the last group of standards will be held from June 12 to July 23, 2015.
All of the Council’s 44 supply chain occupational standards are available at www.supplychaincanada.org/en/NOS.
