Who’s on the move this week: September 29, 2014

John Geertsma

John Geertsema is now vice-president of Trailer Wizards Ontario Region. Based out of the Mississauga branch, Geertsema will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing growth of market share in the Ontario Region; overseeing staff and operations at Ontario’s five Total Customer Care Centres, and increasing service business at the newly expanded Mississauga shop. Geertsema brings 36 years of transportation experience. His last position was managing director, sales for FedEx. before that, he worked in vice-president roles with XTL Transport, Network Transport, Trailwood Transport, and Watkins Motor Line. Geertsema is a long time member of the Transportation Club of Toronto and passionate about the trucking industry.

Management consulting firm Kurt Salmon is pleased to welcome Bill Loftis as a director in its retail and consumer products group. Loftis, who will be based out of Kurt Salmon’s Atlanta office, has more than 25 years of supply chain consulting experience, most recently with Tompkins International, where as senior principal he led the firm’s network planning and transportation service lines. Prior to Tompkins, Loftis spent five years with supply chain consultancy Chainalytics.

Coveris has appointed Lee Marks as vice-president, global operational excellence. In this position, Marks will oversee operations at the company’s 66 manufacturing facilities around the world. Marks will be responsible for facility planning, process improvement and operational quality and efficiency. He brings 30 years of leadership and manufacturing experience to Coveris, most recently serving as global vice-president of operations and supply chain for Brady Corporation, an international manufacturer of security and safety products. Marks is a graduate of University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

Christian Cunningham

Christian Cunningham has joined the Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation (HERC) as its chief human resources officer. The role has been newly created for HERC as Hertz prepares to separate its car and equipment rental businesses into standalone, publicly traded companies as announced in March 2014. He joins HERC from DFC Global Corporation where he served as vice-president, corporate HR and HR services since June 2013 with global responsibility for all human resource matters for corporate staff. Previously, Cunningham was vice-president, HR, compensation and benefits at Sunoco Inc and Sunoco Logistics from 2010 to 2013. He was a member of the senior leadership team involved in transforming the company through several large transactions, including an IPO and establishment of a joint venture with a private equity firm.
