  • The port contributed $311,000 to community events and charities through its community investment program, including nearly $20,000 in post-secondary scholarships;
  • The port’s air emissions reduction program earned the ecoFREIGHT Sustainable Transportation Award at the 2010 GLOBE Conference; andPort Metro Vancouver became the first port authority in Canada to issue a rated, private placement bond, supported by a Standard & Poor’s AA credit rating.

“Reporting on our performance is one way we can be more transparent about our efforts and this report establishes a benchmark on which we can build even further,” said Robin Silvester, president and CEO of Port Metro Vancouver. “This first sustainability report marks a solid beginning of measurable improvements, starting with our head office, where in 2010 we were carbon neutral for the first time in the port’s history.”
