CMA CGM offers direct service from Halifax to South America

Halifax, NS: Global carrier CMA CGM will launch the first vessel in its weekly, direct container service from the Port of Halifax to ports on the West Coast of South America, beginning December 12.
CMA CGM’s expanded Black Pearl service will visit ports in Panama, Ecuador, Peru and Chile from the port’s South End Container Terminal, operated by Halterm Container Terminal Limited. The Port of Halifax is CMA CGM’s Canadian port and inter-modal Canadian gateway.
Jean-Yves Duval, CMA CGM Group’s vice-president of Caribbean and Latin America Lines, said the service offers extended coverage and increased connections into the Caribbean, Central America and the East Coast of South America.
The Port of Halifax said the Black Pearl service is the first direct Canadian container service connecting to the west coast of South America. CMA CGM will deploy six vessels with the new rotation as: Halifax, Kingston, Cartagena, Manzanillo (Panama), Balboa, Guayaquil, Callao, Arica, San Antonio, Callao, Guayaquil, Manzanillo (Panama), Kingston, Miami, Philadelphia, New York, Halifax.
