FREDERICTON: The Fredericton International Airport Authority has announced a new cargo lane to consolidate seafood at the Fredericton International Airport. The product will originate in Atlantic Canada, arrive in Fredericton by truck, and move to Toronto by air, where it will be sorted for final destination in Europe or Asia. To date, seafood has moved from Canada to the US to make international connections. This marks the first cargo operation of this kind in Fredericton, said the Fredericton International Airport Authority.
David Innes, president and CEO of the airport authority, said the authority has been working with partners to reach this final result. EXP-AIR will move product on aircraft from Fredericton to Toronto, and the service is scheduled to begin June 21.
“We are excited about the new relationship between ourselves and EXP-AIR,” said Innes. “With their experience, their passion and their global reach EXP-AIR is the ideal partner to make this happen. This activity fits in perfectly with the economic trade strategy of the Canadian and New Brunswick governments to increase trade with Europe and Asia. This is truly a Canadian operation.”
