Unifor members ratify four-year agreement with CN

Members of Unifor Council 4000 and Local 100 have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with CN, bringing a lengthy bargaining process to a close.

“This agreement secures important gains that reflect the critical contributions of Unifor members to CN’s operations,” said Unifor national president Lana Payne. “We are proud to deliver improvements that address pension security, work ownership and working conditions, which were top priorities for members.”

The deal impacts more than 3,000 workers in CN terminals and headquarters across Canada, including rail car technicians, heavy-duty mechanics, crane operators, electricians and administrative staff. The agreement includes enhancements to wages, benefits and job protections.

“We are pleased to have achieved these new collective agreements through collaborative negotiations. By working together with Unifor, we now have new agreements that strengthen our workforce and enhance our ability to serve customers reliably across North America,” Tracy Robinson, president and CEO for CN. “I want to thank both teams for their constructive approach to these negotiations and their shared commitment to CN’s long-term success.”

These new four-year agreements include three per cent wage increases annually and will expire Dec. 31, 2028.

Union leaders said the agreement sets a foundation for ongoing efforts to improve workplace rights and protections across the industry.
