Postal workers to shift from national to rotating strikes

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) says it will move from a nationwide strike to rotating strikes beginning Oct. 11 at 6 a.m. local time.

The union says locals will be notified when it is their turn to take action. CUPW says the shift will allow some mail and parcels to move while workers continue their push for new collective agreements and the protection of public postal services.

CUPW says it did not make the decision to launch a national strike lightly, but accuses Canada Post and the federal government of undermining the bargaining process and threatening jobs and services.
