Members of Unifor Local 27 initiated strike action against the warehousing firm HCL Logistics July 22.
“The cost of living is rising, and workers across the country are demanding that their wages and working conditions keep up,” said Unifor National president Lana Payne.
HCL Logistics provides warehousing and logistics support to companies large and small, including the storage of military equipment for General Dynamics.
“Thanks to Unifor members, the company’s financial health is strong. It is not too much to ask to receive fair compensation,” said Ontario regional director Samia Hashi.
HCL’s head office is located in London, Ont., minutes from the main provincial highway system and close to both Detroit and Port Huron, Mich. The company currently has 600,000 square feet of warehouse space in London and Edmonton, Alta., and can accommodate expansion nationally or internationally.
