Amazon adds afternoon delivery window for Prime Same-Day service in parts of Ontario

Amazon is expanding its Same-Day Delivery service in several Ontario markets, adding new daytime and afternoon delivery windows for Prime members in the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa and Hamilton.

The company says customers in those regions can now choose from four delivery windows: overnight (4 to 8 a.m.), a new extended daytime option (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), a new afternoon option (2 to 6 p.m.) and the existing evening window (5 to 10 p.m.). Prime members can qualify for the service by placing orders over $25 on millions of eligible items.

Amazon says the added flexibility allows customers to receive packages “in as fast as a few hours,” supported by investments in moving fulfilment centres closer to major population areas to speed deliveries and reduce travel distances.

A new Same-Day storefront on Amazon.ca is now available in all regions where the service operates, including Metro Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Southwestern Ontario and Montreal. The company says the storefront lets shoppers browse eligible items by category and reminds customers to verify their address to see the correct availability.

Amazon says Same-Day Delivery carries no extra charges for members, adding that in 2024 “Prime members in Canada saved an average of nearly $230 on fast, free delivery alone—more than double the cost of an annual membership fee.”
