DSV has consolidated its Gauteng operations in South Africa into a new, centralized facility which is the largest of its kind in Africa. It is situated near O.R. Tambo International Airport between Johannesburg and Pretoria and with easy access to the East and West Rand. The logistics centre consists of approximately 1.4 million square feet (130,000 m2) of buildings and covers supply chain solutions from first to last mile. The complex houses a logistics warehouse of 850,,000 sq.ft. (79,000 m²), a cross-dock facility of 441,000 sq. ft. (41,000 m²) and office space of 107,000 sq.ft. (10,000 m²).
Geodis has acquired 21.5 hectares of land at Trade Port Noord from Greenport Venlo. It plans to build a sustainable logistics facilities with a 1.4 million square feet (130,000 m²) site serving customers from various sectors and designed to accommodate the current growth in e-commerce. The Venlo region is located near the Dutch border with Germany, acting as a link between the nearby air and seaports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp with the major industrial markets of the continent. Construction of the new facility will start in 2022.
Gebrüder Weiss has opened a new location in Straubing, Germany. The branch in the lower Bavarian commercial centre will be based at a newly acquired, 484,000 sq. ft. (45,000 m²) property in the Sachsenring industrial park. The new facility is expected to create p to 120 new jobs. The new location will complement the existing southern German branches in Aldingen, Esslingen, Lindau, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Passau, and Waldkraiburg – the facility added most recently following the acquisition of Spedition Lode.
Dalfen Industrial has purchased two properties in Pennsylvania. The portfolio includes buildings in Lancaster and Elizabethtown. The Lancaster property is a brand new, 252,800-square-foot building. The Elizabethtown property was built in 2018 and has 320,000 square feet. Each has high clear heights, a large number of loading docks, ample parking, and modern office space.
