FedEx Freight Canada constructing new BC facility

SURREY, British Columbia: FedEx Freight Canada is spending over $20 million on building a new service centre for western Canada.

The 72-door facility will be located on 6.7 hectares (16.42 acres) in Surrey, British Columbia. According to the company, the purpose of the new centre will be to connect the western Canadian less-than-truckload (LTL) industry with customers in the north-south and east-west shipping lanes, and also to connect international markets via ocean and road delivery networks.

“This development is an important milestone for FedEx Freight and for British Columbia,” said Grant Crawford, FedEx Freight’s vice president, international. “This is a strategic location within our vast network of centres throughout Canada and North America.

“We expect to continue to grow in this market.”

Construction has already started on the building. It is scheduled to open at the beginning of November, and it will initially employ 50 people.
