Amazon’s Key In-Garage Delivery service is now available to Canadian Prime members, which enables customers to have their packages left inside their garage.
Amazon said the service aims to provide Prime members added convenience and security in a number of ways, including helping to protect against weather damage or missing deliveries, ensuring expensive or fragile orders are kept safe and offering the ability to receive Amazon packages inside the garage, whether they are home or away.
Prime members can link their compatible myQ smart garage door opener—a garage door opener you can control with an app on your phone—to Amazon Key by selecting an In-Garage Delivery option at checkout. When a delivery driver arrives at a customer’s home, they scan the Amazon package to request a one-time, secure access to the garage. Once the Amazon Key verifies the package and driver’s location, the garage door will open. The delivery driver places the package inside, exits and closes the garage. Once it’s closed, they can’t open it again without another delivery to the address.
Amazon said its Key In-Garage Delivery will be free for eligible Prime members until March 31, 2025, and will be $1.99 per order thereafter. Amazon said the fee is waived when members use Key Delivery – Pick Your Day, where they choose the day they want their order to be delivered.
