Purolator has boosted its services in preparation for the nearly 48 million packages it expects to handle this holiday season.
The company is heading into its busiest week of the year, Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, thanks to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Purolator expects to process about seven million pieces during this week – on average, approximately 1.4 million per day (Monday to Friday).
It has added drop-off capabilities at Best Buy stores, added staff, added new agent partners, expanded its fleet and rolled out more digital tools.
“We are expecting to process nearly 48 million packages during this busiest season of the year, and we’re ready to take on more. With this Best Buy partnership, we will now have more than 2,000 shipping locations across the country,” said John Ferguson, the company’s president and CEO.
Purolator customers can now drop off and pick up packages at 101 Best Buy stores across Canada. It also added 55 Swiftpost locations in 2022, along with Quick Stop Kiosks, Quick Stop Pick-Up parcel lockers and Purolator drop boxes to increase package drop-off and pick-up locations by 30 per cent in high-traffic areas. Mobile Quick Stop trucks have also been set up outside its highest-traffic terminals.
The company has also hired 1,200 new employees across the country and expanded its fleet by nearly 10 percent to meet market demand and improve delivery performance and safety.
