Descartes launches FraudGuard 2.0 to combat rising freight fraud risks

Descartes Systems Group has released Descartes MacroPoint FraudGuard 2.0, an upgrade to its freight fraud prevention technology aimed at protecting shippers, freight brokers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) from increasingly complex cargo theft and fraud schemes.

The new version adds capabilities for identifying risks at pre-tender, pre-pickup and in-transit stages, with real-time alerts, expanded monitoring and decision-making tools that improve carrier compliance and fraud detection.

“The new FraudGuard release has fundamentally elevated our operational confidence,” said Tore Giannone, director of operations at Circle Logistics. “Its automated alerts and comprehensive insights have not only reduced the manual workload but also enabled us to proactively identify and prevent a range of fraud attempts.”

FraudGuard 2.0 leverages historical and real-time data from Descartes MacroPoint to assess carrier and driver legitimacy, reduce double brokering, and mitigate identity fraud. The system tracks risk signals across 16 key in-transit data points, alerting users to suspicious activity such as GPS spoofing, unusual vehicle stops and improbable route patterns.

“Descartes MacroPoint FraudGuard 2.0 brings next-level freight visibility and control to our customers,” said Robert Derin, director of product at Descartes. “By improving compliance through enhanced security measures, the solution helps shippers, brokers, and 3PLs strengthen their service differentiation, dramatically reduce fraud-related losses and lessen the financial impact of resolving incidents.”

The platform also includes a carrier and driver lookup tool and custom risk alerts to help users block suspicious carriers before load details are shared.
