FourKites has launched two new artificial intelligence solutions aimed at automating bottlenecks between transportation and warehouse operations.
Alan, an AI-powered digital worker, and AutoGate AI, a computer vision-based check-in tool, integrate with FourKites’ Intelligent Control Tower platform to eliminate manual scheduling and gate processes — areas where many facilities still rely on clipboards and radios.
“While companies have invested billions in warehouse robotics and transportation systems, the yard remains a costly bottleneck where 92 per cent of facilities still rely on clipboards and radios or legacy systems,” said Priya Rajagopalan, FourKites president of product, technology and operations. “Our AI solutions eliminate this constraint by automating routine decisions 24/7, transforming yards from passive storage areas into active participants in supply chain orchestration.”
Alan automates the entire appointment lifecycle across multiple communication channels — including email, carrier updates and portals — reducing scheduling workloads by 50 per cent. AutoGate AI slashes truck check-in times from over 10 minutes to under two, automating validation and gate records to deliver estimated annual labour savings of $70,000 to $150,000 per facility.
“This represents a fundamental shift from visibility to orchestration,” said FourKites founder and CEO Mathew Elenjickal. “Traditional yard systems only track human decisions without making them. By automating these routine decisions, we’re freeing operations staff from administrative coordination to focus on exception handling and strategic improvement.”
The tools are part of the company’s newly rebranded YardWorks AI suite, which also includes AutoBooker — an intelligent scheduling tool — and a Dynamic Yard feature that tracks assets in real time using a digital twin model.
Together, the integrated system is designed to extend operational hours without additional staff and increase throughput by as much as 50 per cent.
