The adoption of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) is revolutionizing the warehousing industry across North America, driven by the demand for efficiency and cost reduction. The global AMR market, which grew 56 per cent in 2022, continues to expand, with North America emerging as a key player in the shift toward automation.

“E-commerce growth, labour shortages and the drive for operational efficiency are key factors propelling the adoption of AMRs in warehouses,” according to a recent study on global autonomous mobile robots.

AMRs are gaining traction in sectors like e-commerce, manufacturing and logistics, where they enhance speed, accuracy and safety. Innovations like AI integration and drones for inventory management are reshaping warehouse operations, particularly in the U.S., which trails only China in AMR adoption.

The AMR market is expected to triple in size by 2030, with significant growth projected in quality control, packaging and assembly applications. North America’s readiness to adopt new technologies is a driving force behind its role in shaping global trends in warehouse automation.
